The short version: We use only the cookies that keep you signed in and keep the site secure, plus Google Analytics on our public pages to count visits in aggregate. No advertising trackers, nothing sold or shared. Your choices are simple: unsubscribe in one click, or email us to see, fix, or delete anything we have.
The cookies we use
Just the strictly necessary ones — small files that keep your session working when you sign in, and that protect the site against abuse. If you block or clear them, the site still works; you'll just be signed out.
Our guides and tools are free to read without an email. If you choose the optional email ask at the end, we set a cookie (ps_unlock) so we don't ask again on this device for a year. It holds a random token, not your email, and nothing outside this site can read it.
We don't use advertising or targeting cookies, and we don't let third parties drop trackers here to follow you around the internet.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 on our public pages — the homepage, the guides, the calculators, and the Field Notes — to see, in aggregate, which pages help and where people arrive from. It sets a first-party cookie (_ga) to tell one visit from another. We have turned off Google's advertising features and ad personalization, we don't pass it your email, your intake answers, or anything you type, and it never runs on the intake, your plan, your account, sign-in, or the Insurance Check.
Besides page views, we count when someone opts in to email updates, a tool produced a result (or a prep sheet was printed), and someone clicked through to get started. Never what you typed, never your email, never an amount, a date or a state. Same excluded pages, and the same Global Privacy Control / Do Not Track opt-out as before.
You can opt out by turning on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser — we honour both and the tag never loads — or with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Ads, and the label they carry
Sometimes we run ads on search engines and community sites so people can find these tools. If you arrive from one of our ads, the link carries a short label that says which ad it was — for example "google / cpc / unemployment-tool". We keep that label in your browser tab's session storage (it is gone when you close the tab), and if you choose email updates or start a plan we store it next to that record so we can tell which ads are worth paying for. It is a label for the ad, not for you. We do not use advertising pixels, we do not send anything back to the ad platform about what you do here, and we do not build advertising audiences from visitors.
Two items live in session storage, not in cookies, and both are first-party and cleared the moment you close the tab: ps_campaign (the label itself) and ps_campaign_sent (a flag so the label is counted once per visit).
Do Not Track and browser signals
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, analytics never loads. Nothing else on the site tracks you across sites, so there's nothing further to switch off.

Ask us what we have about you, correct it, or have it deleted — email hello@gotpinkslipped.com and we'll take care of it, usually within a few days.
We don't sell or share your personal information for advertising, so there's no "Do Not Sell or Share" opt-out to file. Depending on where you live (including California and other U.S. states), you may have additional legal rights over your data — access, correction, deletion, and portability. We'll honor reasonable requests wherever you are, and we'll never treat you differently for asking.
